As the founder of the Patriot's Club for Kids I'm always looking for good learning tools for the club and my own children. Counting on the Constitution is just that - a great learning tool for your kids. Patrick did a fine job with this book and I'm recommending it for my club and everyone else. John Adams once said "Children should be educated and instructed in the principles of freedom". This book is a good start towards that goal!
When I gave this book to my son right after school as a "surprise", he immediately thumbed through it, and began doing the connect the dots to see what the pictures were going to be and began reading and tracing the letters on the pages. He is inspired that a young boy (like him) wrote and illustrated it too. As a mom, I like it because it opens up conversation about The Constitution and is a fun way for him to learn about it without feeling he is being "taught a lesson"! I highly recommend this book!
I would highly recommend this book for children (and adults!). I learned a lot I did not know before I got this book. It combines facts and information with fun, and what more could you ask in a children's book! I am so impressed with young Patrick...he is a true patriot! His first book, Coloring Book for American Children, is also excellent. My children have thoroughly enjoyed coming back to it again and again. Sadly, many American's know so little about their country's history. It is wonderful to see such a young person so engaged and passionate about getting the message out about America's rich history and unique nature. Keep up the great work, Patrick!
This young man, Patrick Torma, has done it again! He has created a book that is educational on many levels, fun, and teaches even the youngest children about the U.S. Constitution! My grandchildren, ages 4, 6 and 8 are working through it with me and there are activities that are appropriate and fun for each of those ages! Parents and grandparents who love the American vision and ideals, as stated by our founding fathers, should get this book and go through it TOGETHER. It is so important for today's young people to know our history and to understand the intent behind our founding documents. This book is very well done, by a 12 year-old, who is very admirably trying to help adults teach their children about America!
Excellent book! Patrick has hit a home run with this wonderful educational tool. Not only is it written in an easy to understand style, but his use of games and illustrations provide VISUAL augmentation to the text helping bring the meaning of his words to life. I bought three copies for my two nephews and my little cousin. This book will provide them an excellent introduction to the document that has been largely responsible for enabling our country to succeed as a democratic, representative republic. For all you parents out there with youngsters below 6th grade, I highly recommend this book as the key introductory tool you can use to help them learn about the core meaning of the US Constitution and its relevance today as our governing political document. Great job Patrick! Keep up the good work and continue the fight for preserving our system of government, national sovereignty, and American way of life! God bless!
I was having great difficulty finding a book written that plainly explains our Constitution and our Government at the Elementary school Level..If you are familiar with the School Rock series from way back, this is a superior version, and you can learn along with your child! There are pictures to color, crossword puzzles,and dot to dot., it also breaks down each amendment in paragraph form, with amendments.
Complete with the Declaration of Independence written so Elementary school students can understand, it also has an explanation of the US separation from the King and Britian.
All of this is wonderful, when you consider it was written and published by a middle school student who obviously appreciates and reveres the History of our American Heritage. Kudos to him.
This book is an excellent resource for introducing children to the Constitution in a child-friendly and easy to understand format. The graphics and activities are very well done, amazing work for such a young illustrator! Our children absolutely love it and what a great way to integrate basic learning skills with such valuable history? This is a must for home schooling parents and anyone who wants to train their children about the most important document in our country's history.
